About Our Team

The T-Hawks are a composite team made up of 5th-12th grade students in North Austin and Williamson County who don't have their own high school mountain bike team. We race in the Texas League of NICA. The National Interscholastic Cycling Association whose objective is getting more kids on bikes. 

The cost associated with being on the mountain bike team are:

• Your $350 NICA registration fee
• A Jersey (around $75
• A bike (prices vary)
• Venue entrance fees at each race which is $15 per person and any costs associated with traveling and staying at the race location.

Our team has no team fees, however that means we also do not provide jerseys and you will need to purchase one as they are required for racing. We often have other riders who have outgrown jerseys or have graduated so there are other ways to acquire one at a lower cost. Your bike is possibly your biggest investment. A good starter, hard tail, mountain bike is usually around $500 new. NICA does also offer a fantastic loaner bike program! This is an excellent option if your rider is on the cusp of a growth spurt as a properly fitted bike is key for comfort and competence. It is also an excellent option if your rider isn't quite certain they will fall in love with the sport (we'll make sure they do!).
